From the very
beginning (with the Stamperia del Borgo Po in 1982), Franco Masoero has combined
the two activities of fine art printing with staging exhibitions. Subsequently,
he also became an art publisher, producing small monographs in very limited
editions, art catalogues often realised with public bodies and, lastly, folio
collections of original engravings and valuable artists’ books.
At an early stage his collaboration with artists departed from the confines of
Turin to embrace a European field. The exhibitions held in the gallery have been
increasingly enriched by participation in the most important international art
fairs. Exchanges and shared projects with foreign galleries meant that the
Italian artists such as Carol Rama, Nicola de Maria, Enrico Della Torre,
Francesco Franco, Piero Ruggeri and so on have been flanked by artists such as
Louise Bourgeois, Zoran Music, Henri Michaux, Jean Fautrier, James Brown or
George Baselitz. The exhibitions often include drawings and paintings and are
not merely limited to original prints.
In the end of 2008 Franco Masoero has transformed the rooms of via Giulia di
Barolo 13 in "SALOTTO",
centre of meetings and exchanges around art. Masoero continues his activity as
art worker and merchant and organizes art shows of
Carol Rama
in other galleries in Italy, Suisse, Austria, France, the Netherlands and Germany. In the
end of 2008 he opened a big art show in collaboration with Michele Maccarone at
New York.
At via Giulia di Barolo 13 is located even the association
Art Motive X.24, coordinated by Alexandra
Wetzel, which has started it’s activity on summer 2008 with the public
retrospective exhibition at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa "Carol Rama. The Eye of
Eyes. Works from 1937 to 2005”. |
